Cedra DuFlon-Heide presented a check to the Nonprofit Assistance Center for $7,500.
The Nonprofit Assistance Center supports community organizations and funders to be strong partners in movements for social justice through coaching, peer learning, and collaboration. Their services help meet basic needs of nonprofits as well as provide tools to gain long-term stability and self-sufficiency through programs such as capacity building cohorts, legal clinics, and grant writing support.

Everyone For Veterans
In 2008, Dr. Theresa Cheng became a health care army-of-one, providing vets and their caregivers free dental care (which most do not get from the VA). Responding to her outreach, 300 dentists and other care givers stepped up alongside her providing volunteer health services to our low-income combat veterans.
With a $10,000 grant, Act of Giving is ecstatic to be an initial funder of Dr. Cheng’s new non-profit, Everyone for Veterans, and join them in serving vets.

Andrea Schmitt, Executive Director of The Soldiers Project holds Act of Giving’s 2017 $10,000 grant supporting TSP’s work in Washington State. The Soldiers Project provides free, confidential and unlimited mental health services to any active duty service member or veteran who has served since September 11, 2001, and to their families.

Jhamtse Gatsal, a chldren’s community
Act of Giving awards $10,000 to Jhamtse Gatsal (Tibetan for “Garden of Love and Compassion”), a children’s community in the foothills of the Himalayas. About 90 children, abandoned, neglected or simply from families too impoverished to care for them, have been taken in. With active love and compassion, Buddhist Monk Lobsang (shown) and the staff raise and school them, enabling emotional well-being, happiness and resilience.
