Grant Process

Our grant making process makes Act of Giving unique and is exciting for contributors who wish to get actively involved in the foundation’s efforts.

Here’s how we select grantees:

  • Act of Giving members choose an annual theme for our grants.
  • Focusing on a theme each year, we explore non-profit organizations to learn more about the work they do, to identify possible volunteer opportunities, and to consider submitting grant proposals on their behalf.
  • Each year in late March, partners submit proposals for their preferred grantees.
  • Act of Giving members review all grant proposals and discuss them openly.
  • We democratically vote to select each grantee.

Because we are volunteer-based, almost all of the money we raise goes to grantees.

Through our focus on research and information sharing, we discover opportunities for involvement with innovative non-profits and foster a sense of trust and openness among our members. And through our grants, the Act of Giving Foundation brings additional resources to organizations that are doing inspirational work to make positive change in our world.
