Winter: Grant Kickoff Meeting –  February 7, 2017
Once the theme is determined, our grants committee pulls together resources around the topic and holds a kickoff meeting for all members to discuss nonprofits that are working to improve conditions in this area. This is an inspirational/brainstorm session that refreshes our passion for the grant cycle, and we can learn about where other members have been inspired around the annual theme. Members often come out of this meeting with a renewed excitement over finding a worthy nonprofit and proposing a grant on their behalf.

Spring: Grant Decision Event – April 25, 2017
Once the votes are in the grants committee pulls us together for a happy hour to announce the winners. This is a fun, casual night of celebration where we can raise a toast to the grantees.

Summer: Grant Celebration Event – June 27, 2017
Jean at the Summer event Every summer we invite the grantees for the year to attend a celebration in their honor. We gather in Seattle to celebrate and listen to the grantees speak about their organizations and how the grants will help their work. Light food and drinks are provided and it has proven to be a fun night of meeting new people and learning about great work being done by organizations.

The summer event also offers Act of Giving members, family, friends and guests an opportunity to connect with each other. Being able to share the Act of Giving mission and encourage participation is an important piece of the event.

Fall: Annual Meeting
General Info Session – Prior to all Annual Meetings, we hold a general info session for anyone interested in joining Act of Giving. We share the history of Act of Giving and the current grant process. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get information about joining.

Annual Meeting – Following the info session, this part of the meeting provides the chance to discuss the funding available for the next grant cycle and then brainstorm potential themes. The Annual Meeting has historically been a day of inspiration as we hear about all the potential areas of need in our world and have open discussions around where our donation could have a big impact. Every two years, a new Executive Committee is voted into office at the annual meeting.
